Chocolate Avocado Truffles

These dark chocolate avocado truffles are rich, smooth, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. What makes them extra special is that you can’t actually taste the avocado, even though it gives them that perfect creamy texture. They’re made with just a handful of simple ingredients and come together in under 15 minutes (not counting chilling time). They also happen to be refined sugar-free, gluten-free, and no-bake, which makes them the perfect feel-good treat.

Why You’ll Love This Chocolate Avocado Truffles Recipe

These dark chocolate avocado truffles are one of those little treats you’ll keep coming back to. Here’s why:

  • Naturally sweetened: no refined sugar if you don’t want it

  • Ultra creamy: thanks to ripe avocados

  • Customizable: make them more or less sweet, add different toppings

  • No baking: they come together quickly with very little cleanup

  • Kid- and friend-approved: nobody can tell there’s avocado in them

  • Perfect for meal prep: they store well in the fridge

They’re just the right balance of indulgent and nourishing, and the texture is unreal.

Ingredients to Make Chocolate Avocado Truffles

Here’s what you’ll need to make these healthy chocolate truffles:

  • Avocados: Ripe avocados give the truffles their creamy, smooth texture.

  • Dark chocolate: Choose a good quality dark chocolate, around 70% or higher. It brings a deep, rich chocolate flavor that pairs perfectly with the mellow avocado.

  • Honey: Used to sweeten the truffles naturally. You can adjust based on your taste or skip entirely if your chocolate is sweet enough.

  • Vanilla extract: Optional, but adds a lovely warmth and depth to the flavor.

  • Cocoa powder: For dusting. It gives the truffles that classic chocolate truffle look and an extra layer of richness.

How to Make These Healthy Chocolate Truffles

  1. Break the dark chocolate into pieces and melt it gently using a double boiler.

  2. Scoop the avocados into a food processor. Add the melted chocolate, honey, and vanilla (if using). Blend until completely smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed.

  3. Line a small glass container or dish (like a loaf tin or glass meal prep box) with parchment paper. Pour in the mixture and flatten with a spatula.

  4. Cover and place in the freezer for at least 3 hours, or until firm enough to cut into squares.

  5. Once set, remove from the freezer and cut into bite-sized pieces. Add cocoa powder to a bowl, and roll each piece until fully coated.

  6. Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1–2 weeks.

Tips for Making Chocolate Avocado Truffles

  • Use ripe avocados, they should be soft but not brown inside. The smoother the avocado, the better the texture.

  • Taste before chilling, you can always adjust the sweetness before setting them.

  • Roll quickly in cocoa powder so they don’t melt in your hands.
